Hmmmm.....I recall from the history books his great uncle and aunt the Duke and Dutchess of Windsor had visited Hitler at his hideout at Brechtesgaden. Yeah, but his irascible old bugger of a Grand Father (Phil)fought hard and bravely against Germany in the Navy! I personally dont find it too offensive. If your gonna dress as a Nazi, you may as well dress in the Uniform of the Afrika korps.Ultimately their Leader Rommel is regarded as something of a Hero (i know, too strong a word admitedly)by some of the the Brits who fought against him.My old Granddad was at tobruk and said much the same thing. He most certainly wasnt a true Dyed in the wool Nazi and was even forced to commit suicide after being instigated in the 1944 plot to kill Hitler.

Yes we do need to know as much as possible about these most horrific crimes against Humanity!
Ive been to Auschwitz,a truly terrifying place. Not in any real tangible sense, just the sheer frightening sense of History. The worst bit imo is the railway sidings.Just ordinary tracks, but you recognise that when that Train came to a halt the Killing was about to start.
Someone mentioned "The World at War".I would say everyone should watch the "New"Episodes about the Final Solution.Poignant stuff.
I will be watching these programmes with Interest.
Please God (?) these Events wont be repeated.

The Gay Elder
by Mastodon ini just heard from back home (puerto rico), about this elder i know (i was good friends with his daughter), that just got df'd for homosexuality.
this is how the story goes:
he was an elder for over 20 years and he even claimed to be of the "annointed class'.

Er,probably not that many i should think. Why are there so many gay People (a Gay Mate of mine included)who think there are soooo many like them.No offense intended, just an observation.

I totally agree with your post.In the UK (is it the same in the States?)there is a problem with "alleged"perpetrators of sex Crimes being named in the Media. There is a law being considerd to keep the same Anonymity as the "alleged"victims until a Conviction is secured.
The problem of course is that if someone is found innocent after having theyre Name banded about Newspapers ,the old adage "no smoke without Fire "occurs.
Of course, the guilty Perps of Sex/Paedophile crimes should be Toast.

Not Many Brits Know That America Declared War On Us..
by Englishman inaccording to this article, the end of this particular war was the start of a strong bond, now known as a special relationship between our 2 countries.
http://www.napoleonguide.com/campaign_1812.htm.
and, ever since that date, the special relationship between britain and the usa has been totally fair and balanced with both countries giving and receiving in exactly equal amounts.. .

What if World War One never happened?
by outbutnotdown inreading all these 1914 threads lately has made me think a lot more about my own feelings of the jw movement in the early years.
particularly how i feel they got kind of "lucky" that something big happened on whatever numbered prediction 1914 was for them.. we have all seen individuals ride out the rest of their sports, acting, etc.
careers on one big break.

World War1 was always going to happen from at least 10-15 Years before the actual event. The German naval build up to become the superpower of the day was infuriating to Britain.
Then in 1904 after the Entante cordiale between Britain and France suspicions were the order of the Day.All the old (and new)Alliances steeled themselves for an inevitable Conflict.
Maybe Russell got lucky on guessing the Year of the outbreak of war?
After all,it was always going to happen.(the War that is!)
